today I had the delight of having our monthly Scrabble game occur in a converted church! It was AWmazing…the light came in from four sides, the ceilings were cathedral height, the woodworking was done by an acclaimed craftsman…our fellow scrabbler’s partner. as well, as in all the homes I have been in on this long Eastern shore, there was a wonderful view..TGIF

Can’t do anything until I finish this book…written by my sister-in-law (how cool is that?) and making me see that when we don’t know the bigger picture (the future) when life is in flux, we can be sweating the present….we just need time, though, to get us through riding the trough of the wave and get us back onto its crest. (can you tell I live by the sea?) You’ll understand better if you read the book yourself… 🙂

Our “funky” (his favourite word) neighbour, Richard, ever so proudly erected the signage he made himself! for his 1800’s home. The word is Hawaiian for “the rocky promontory” , and thus describes the land the home is on. It was wonderful to follow the work from concept to completion, and delight in Richard’s delight!

today this Munchkin turned 2! To may amazement and joy, I have been present at the birth of all five grandchildren, and intend to be there for the 6th in December. I am so grateful for Skype allowing me “real time”, and email, for letting me instantly receive photos, to allow me to feel I was nearly close enough for a hug today… kisses to you Finn.

I love having friends from Ontario over to discover our new lifestyle..though we’ve been here 8 years this month we still feel the thrill of sharing our surroundings with those who have been involved with us in our “old” life. Old friends carry a history of our lives from another time, and are therefore an important touchstone for us, and we for them.

out for a two day hiking adventure, cottage overnight. The hikers in the group are into their 80’s, and all share just such a love of nature, and a desire to see the world off the beaten path. Belonging to this group has enabled me to discover so much more of N.S..and I’m so delighted with that, and them.
