December 9, 2012

It’s beginning to look a lot like…it hasn’t in years! We’ve been away for Christmas, or going away right after, so we haven’t had a tree, for years now. The General Store came through with a beauty. Wonderful to decorate, knowing that Jen and family, and Drea will share Christmas with us. Jen et al were in N.Z. the last 6 Christmases, and Drea in L.A. the last 8 I think…exciting. Especially imagining what Asa will try to do to the tree.

But in remembering the reason for the season, it was also delightful to be in this tiny church in Lower East Chezzetcook, and catch the Christmas vibe there, via wonderful musicians. I do not have any religious leanings, but I am sentimental towards traditions. If I was in L.A. right now with Tish, I’d be enjoying Chanukah with them, and later Christmas with them. Twice as much tradition to enjoy. To me it’s all about binding families together. And I’m into families.

How wonderful this year Barb! It, in fact might be the last Xmas in that house, so it’s fitting that you celebrate!
I remember when I had my farm, I had a tree in the house and a big tree in my studio/salon..it had a cathedral ceiling. I would let my customers children decorate the tree while they waited for their Moms. The first few days, only little kids came in, so only the bottom two branches had all the decorations on them. You probably know this from all the children in your life. Each age group/height can have their own section to decorate, then the top for the tallest. The decorating s always the most fun isn’t it…xo
