Lovely day to go to art…all fog, later high winds, pelting rain…so nice to be in the cozy hall, with 3 visitors today creating a “Salon” atmosphere.IMG_0335

This photo of the fabric for my new art quilt, may be the best this quilt ever looks! I love it right now.IMG_0336Brenda found her medium…metal work..she loves it and clearly is good at it. Great to have her get excited over her artwork!

IMG_0292A day of expected extremes looked amazingly calm in the early hours. The early bird catches the worm theory? or things deteriorate with time? however you look at it, it was another day we reading this were able to…which in itself says everything!

Image 1Remember this? with all our modern windows, seeing Jack Frost is a thing of the past. Not for Richard, in his centuries old home. His windows on a cold day make me just want to sit there and stare, in awe, in transfixation,  (no such word, but there should be). Seeing Jack Frost brings such a hit of nostalgia, which  warms the soul on a cold day.

IMG_0304Three windows on Jen’s second floor have new Roman Blinds, after an effort I started last Tuesday until today…that’s why it costs so much to buy custom made ones…Frank and neighbour Kim were so helpful in the effort. It was satisfying to put them up today.IMG_0309Then Jen and I worked on stuffed dogs, to be what Forest’s friends receive at his 4th birthday party this week…a Dog Adoption Party.IMG_0325We made 12 dogs, 2 completed with stuffing by our departure. The colourful one on the left was made by Jen and I in N.Z. this time last year. He travelled over…Corduroy. This latest litter was less demanding in their birthing.

Jockel and Drea were over for the weekend. Jockel was so happy that there were waves out there…nothing like winter surfing, (apparently…not intending to find out for myself). Here he’s waxing his board, and the beaming Drea is watching. Did I tell you that Drea is also beaming because these two are having a baby the end of July??!!! We’re all so excited and delighted…and I won’t have to fly to get to the delivery. Yes!IMG_0295Jockel is back…ice clinging to him, but so pleased with his “run”.

IMG_0280What a welcoming sight after a day on the road, to come home to my man in the moon, beckoning me up the driveway. The house, with all the transoms, is so bright in the middle of the night from moonlight pouring into them, that despite every blind being closed, the place is all brightness.

IMG_0263This morning the air was so cold, and the ocean was not as, which caused the creation of “steam”. There is much to make up for the cold..really cold…days. Bright sun light looks brighter, clearer, on a crisp day, and the steam is wonderful to watch. It also feels alright to stay inside all day making Roman Blinds, just looking out now and then, when you know that it’s “too cold” to go out. Less guilt this way. Second day of blinds…only 2 more to go. I worked on curtains for Jen a few years back, in another country…funny. But there I was hot! But here, Jen is so much closer! as I said, cold isn’t so bad.
