Val, Elaine and I headed to PEI on the ferry Friday a.m…alas, my fans, I left my computer and camera cable in N.S..As always, the scenery in PEI is amazing. We stayed in Montague, with the welcoming Delores. Lots of laughter, but beautiful weather, staying on the deck till 9 p.m., plenty of good food and wine, helped us out. I felt a little lost in the late evening, being “unplugged”.

Downtown Halifax was such a treat for me…don’t get here often enough, but in for a Book Club. Love this building’s mirrored windows…a new sighting.Another new sighting..these crazy lampposts by the waterfront. It wasn’t dark enough for me to see them lit up at night. And a Naval vessel, to remind me of our working harbour. I felt like a tourist in Halifax, which I found to be a fabulous city.
So, I was sitting outside having a coffee , early, on this lovely day..and heard a loud sound above my head. I imagined a huge bee, and since I couldn’t spot it, thought it might have flown into the house, but I discovered that a humming bird was the source of that sound! I opened more doors and windows, but it kept going to the transoms, which don’t open. When I left the room to get help from “my man”, and returned, the bird had flown our coop.
We decided we should encourage the humming bird to use a feeder, to keep it from trying to get to our brightly coloured indoor geraniums, and also thought that screen doors would be good….an idea that I love, so the humming birds adventure created a positive outcome. Have to love serendipity.
Well, I had a book that needed to be read by Wed. p.m. for a meeting on Thurs…and my body helped me out. Sick, I just had to hang out in bed today and read, a few trips to somewhere now and then. Finished the book, “Indian Horse”.”.Canada Reads” for 2013, really worth it. Anyone with a love of hockey would want to read this book, but it’s not necessary to enjoy it.
Sheep at the local “farm” near us…often horses, goats, turkeys, and chickens sporadically appear. These sheep reminded me of New Zealand, where you find sheep just about anywhere that grass grows. To see these sheep, with the ocean setting, houses in the background, always feels so incongruous in Nova Scotia. But so does most of this wild eastern shore.
