IMG_2279so here’s the problem…I need 3 paintings to be painted, and then to dry (oils) before a show a month from now…(why is everything happening in July?)..and I get obsessed!! when I’m painting. I just won’t stop, so when it’s raining out and I don’t feel the pressure to be gardening, as in weeding, then I stand up by my easel for too too long and then some. Thank goodness I’m usually so involved in quilting or art quilts that I don’t have time to destroy myself like this. A good diet plan though.

IMG_2273Almost half way through the quilt top..I love the colours..all “Liberty” clothing (London, England)..of Melissa’s over 30-40 years old.  To work in colours and patterns not of your choosing, is “liberating”, if you like them, which I do indeed. I’ll be sorry to give up this quilt.

IMG_2268We’re caring for Kaia while Jen and family are holidaying with Will’s mum, who is visiting from N.Z.. When I point at each dog and say “go to your bed”, they both go directly to Daisy’s bed. Kaia will sleep on her own bed, just a little removed from this one, but “go to your bed” seems to mean they both need to shove in on Daisy’s. It’s great that they listen, and “pertty dern cute” to see them scooch together.

IMG_2248Couldn’t resist putting this one in from yesterday. Frank has so enjoyed being a grandfather, and more so since he’s retired. I had time being a mother, much more so than Frank had being a dad, so I think he’s making hay while the sun still shines..

IMG_2256Today’s photo is a representation of how GREEN this spring/summer has been, what with all our rain. Really makes the pic look photoshopped, which it is not..You can see the rain drops on the Lady’s Mantle in the right hand corner.

I was excited tonight, at the opening of the art quilt show “ART HITS THE WALL” at the lovely Acadia Art Gallery at Acadia University in Wolfville. The show started today and goes till the end of November, travelling the province. We’re going to try to get to all 5 openings, if just for the wine. The theme was “Kaleidoscope” …I titled my piece ” Winter Cometh”..the cold wintery wind on the left is blowing off the leaves on the right, and they are piling by the tree. Little plug here…the show will be at Acadia till Aug. 4th…

The gallery itself looked like a Kaleidoscope…

IMG_2237These two just met today, but they have a lot in common. Meredith and Drea are…yes…pregnant! and neither knows the sex of the baby, and they live near one another. It makes me think of my friend Julie whom I met when we were both pregnant, I with Drea. Over 30 years later we are still great friends. You never know when you first meet someone how that meeting might play out in your life.  It was great to be around the “expectant” energy…

IMG_2221So rarely do we slip out our bedroom doors out to the deck for our morning coffee…because the view to the ocean isn’t here, that’s why, but…

IMG_2230the view to the deer! was. What a brave young buck this fellow is! Or he loves the camera..

IMG_2233Later we walked to Lawrencetown Beach to take part in the beach clean up. I found an abandoned Frisbee, plus lots of broken beer bottles and butts, and of course, Tim Horton’s coffee cups. Terrific that someone organized this. Thank you.
