Amazing waves today..can you “find Waldo”?
It was so warm in the afternoon that evening play was welcome. Caleigh loves Volleyball and Ivy loves everyone…
A year in Days – my photo journal
so the expression “buy locally” comes to mind as we contemplate travelling to L.A. with this huge, heavy piece of scroll work art by the creative Will ( willcooperart.com ) to have it adorn Tish’s home..It will be a feat but for the sake of art and beauty, it “will” be done. Stay tuned to see its unveiling in its new permanent home, at the opposite spectrum of local!
After an entire day of getting snow tires, car inspection, car recall notice, new license, dr. appt., I pulled in on the way home to get the view by MacDonald House…here is the view from the hill top, looking towards the west…
and here it is looking towards the opposite side of the roadway…”lookin’ at both sides now”…settled me nicely.
Celebrating Drea’s b.d. early as we won’t we able to share the day with her…Here she’s “in the zone” with her first Ukelele. Loved hearing her sing the words as she worked through playing some songs from her 400 song strong book…by this time next year she should have at least 200 to play for us..I envy her the learning curve. Music escapes me, but I am so delighted for those that have captured that skill, been born with that ability..You go girl!
It’s been a few weeks here of being stuck waiting to be allowed to proceed on the road, as road work is being done on Marine Drive. I’ve seen the crews working in good weather, in windy weather, and today in rainy weather. Made me really appreciate the job they do. Sometimes being forced to stop, wait, observe, creates room for reflection and understanding. Sometimes doing the blog makes me observe. Later in the day the sun shone. A non sequitur but there is some meaning to it.
In the big city today. Here Halifax is showing off old, new and the yet to come.. the lovely old building on the right, the modern new version of that building on the the left, and the cranes in behind working on the future Convention Centre. A stimulating sighting.
..but then Frank and I were really stimulated by a lecture by David Suzuki, a talk about oil exploration in the St. Lawrence, a movie on the changing climate of the Atlantic Provinces, a panel discussion, a Q and A.. Dr. Suzuki was fabulous. Now to get the solar panels on our house, trade in our car for an electric one, whip up a wind turbine, and pay attention to who we vote in to put the environment first, stop using fossil fuels…I love getting whipped up like this. A “large day”, as all this was preceded by viewing an enormous amount of art. An entirely different yin and yang day.
Daisy sticks by Rowland on Thursdays…she knows who butters her toast (is that really an expression?)..Rowland insists that I bring in treats for him to feed Daisy, or he starts feeding her indiscriminately, raiding his cupboards at home, anything to keep Daisy focused on him. Rowland loves dogs and misses having one. Daisy loves Rowland, and misses having anyone on her home front handing out treats…so it’s a win win situation for these two.
