Frank went to an empty lot, cut down a long dead tree, created this pole, and added our Canadian Flag…all in preparation for tomorrow…Canada Day. It comes once a year, but all year we are happy to be Canadians.

Lawrencetown Beach was packed today, by this beach’s standards, not by the standards of those beaches that are bumper to bumper striped umbrellas and no sand space between bodies. Here we do it the eastern shore way…always some elbow room. See the kites in the air too? People having fun, in ways that never change. Must admit that I was a little blue today, now that we have lovely warm weather finally. I feel that my cast prohibits me from walking on just plain walks, on the beach, over rocks… but if it wasn’t for this foot, I would have been missing Daisy even more as I would have been able to do all the above but not have my four footed companion with me! Strange how that worked. So I saw the beach from the car, and sat outside on our deck. Thankfully we have a lovely view.
Dan was doing a yeoman’s job of stacking his newly delivered wood. Much as I still love the idea of having a wood burning stove, I have seen what’s involved, and it’s heavy work, not for the lazy at heart. I must say, though, that just seeing this hard work being done on a hot summer day to prepare for the winter, gave me a feeling of calm, perhaps the beauty of the scene, the healthy strong man, the fragrant wood, the ocean, the sun, the clothes on the line, made this a kind of a Norman Rockwell vignette.
I think in fact that the Lego did the heavy lifting of the babysitting job, and it allowed Frank to sit apart from the boys, with Forest engaged and me playing with Asa. Asa spent some time on his Lego project on the left, but preferred playing cars….the kind where one car smashes into the other. Boys.
Asa’s a clown, a big smiler, but this photo makes him look hysterical as well. I hadn’t realized how funny he looked until I saw the image that appeared and I cracked up! And this isn’t “trick” photography, maybe only “bad” photography. Good day with the boys and Kaia. Hope the night goes well too.
..added some buoys to keep Mr. Goose happy, let him think he’s in the water. This is when it feels as though summer has begun, when I can stand back, admire my efforts, and feel content to sit and relax on the deck chair without any guilt, without the nagging unrest created by a weedy garden. I sat back late this afternoon. Whew!
She invited the men this year, to help dispel the rumour of naked women dancing around a bonfire…though that would have been fun. Here two newly 70 year olds discuss the next decade..(maybe..I wasn’t listening)…
