This little guy celebrated a belated second birthday today, in a lovely setting by the sea. Noah, at two,  is calm, laid back and silly and funny as well.  Birthdays are a great time for self-reflection, but at this juncture, it’s the parents who will reflect…and it will all be “proceed as you were,  you’re doing a great job”…

Guess who pulled up in the driveway next door last night? Miss Cranky Pants!! and Matt and Patrick..back from Alaska where Matt’s family had taken over the camper van. Amazingly happy to see that all ended well…the rest of the family had flown back to Switzerland from Vancouver, but these two motored on back…None of us knew if the Crank would make it back…but she pulled through. I guess that makes her officially Miss Daisy again. Why to go, Miss Daisy…all your passengers, west to east, thank  you for getting the job done. (Frank is holding champagne…time for celebration.)

In September, we will have lived in this area of Nova Scotia for 12 years. Judy was a huge part of our lives for the first half. This seagull was on her deck when we arrived, and is still on that deck. When I see it looking west towards the sunset, it makes we think that Judy has “taken flight” and yet remains grounded to us by love. I can hear her, after we’d watch the sunset here,  saying,  “Let’s jump in the car, drive to MacDonald House, and watch it set again!” She knew how get twice as much pleasure…the second “setting” was over the ocean! How to live life “large”…

We love visiting Marianne at her cottage/home. On the ocean, with fabulous art (hers) and country cottage decorating (hers) and great food..(.Marianne and Frank combo.)..and lots of stimulating conversation ..

..with a lovely view, even though this was the clearest it was all weekend.

..but looked enchanting even at its foggiest. Isn’t that the way?

Swimming with Leslie and Dee in a wonderful spot just left of Peggy’s Cove parking lot…but keep it a secret!  I always resist swimming in the ocean, thinking it so cold, remembering my Ontario warm lakes…but I’ve been missing out! Time to change the paradigm.

This was the magic place..The fog didn’t take away from the warmth or the view..we even saw whales!!

Peggy’s Cove is a photographer’s dream. Must get back there…a swim, anyone?
