It was almost too hot today to knit with this silk, mohair and wool yarn. Hot as in 18 degrees! My spring coat came off. It went directly from mild winter to hot spring…I realize we may get another cold blast, but that will be all it is, a blast. This winter was easy (touch wood). Meanwhile, once my hands cooled off, I…

.. worked on this future cowl, made from the two separate colour ways of yarn. A long way to go, but the constant changing of colour and pattern has me, dare I say it? hooked!

IMG_0794Spending time outdoors on this warm day…with the cutie Noah. Frank and I tried to keep up. I felt my shoulder pain, Frank his knees…but this is the way to stay young…hang out the young! It does your mind, body, and soul much good. Thanks, Noah.

This decorative cabbage, and others I’ve seen exposed once all the snow has left (the little snow we’ve had this winter) totally ready to continue on into spring, summer, fall, next winter! I’ll be watching it. Amazing to come out like new like this.

Today the fireplace got it’s first coat of “cinnamon slate”..looking good. And doors went in the hallway, and trim around more windows…starting to be so much fun now!

IMG_0746Our home looks so tiny here..the snow is melting away, the new window looks as though it’s always been there. When you enter the house, it seems so big, but it really is “down sizing” without buying a condo. We’re both getting so itchy to be in, but meanwhile it’s wonderful weather for walking…we have buds on the lilacs at the rental…I know it’s too early to imagine the end of the snow, but this has been an amazing week. Look how green that grass is!

Fun to see the den painted, and see that colour from within the kitchen. The house will be predominantly white, to brighten it up, enlarge it, but the den will be “den-like”.

See the white?…and the floor will be getting oiled soon, trim put on the windows and baseboards attached, pot lights and speakers and vents into the ceilings…plug covers, switch covers…oh, and propane installed, fireplace delivered and installed, two bathrooms installed, kitchen installed, steps to studio and basement created, sanded, oiled…a while yet! but it will go fast now…has to…we’re out of the rental in 1 1/2 months.

Spent time knitting yesterday with a group of wonderful, eclectic women at Gaspereau Valley Fibres, a beautiful old building in the scenic Gaspereau Valley…wood stove going, multiple conversations going, needles going. I love this my place… it even comes with a resident cat. I visited the shop once last January when I was staying at Jen’s, and didn’t know then that we’d be living in Wolfville before the next January. Can’t wait till next Thursday.

On the home front, we’re glad two of our three “pet” lady bugs are still thriving. They “hang” in the kitchen, on the sill, walk the counter, cling to  dishes (unfortunate habit for the one that drowned as I washed the dishes). Do you think this might mean we need a dog?

Yesterday…a surprise for us when we dropped in on a local pub and found that on Saturday afternoons there is a forum for drop-in musicians…especially those playing Irish music. It went over well with beer and Nachos.

…and on such a beautiful day the walk home was lovely too. Winter isn’t so bad…it’s already February…then again, we’re expecting a huge snowfall starting on Monday. Love it when you can.

This is in Port Hope…Fascinating.

..and here is Miss Rose, whom we visited last Friday before the wedding adventure. This babe is saying that she wants to visit Nova Scotia and hopes momma Anna gets the message! It’s a huge pleasure in life to see those you love become parents, and love their babies, and create another generation who can grow from that base, that solid foundation.

Hanging out with sisters-in-law, staying on for a few days after that exciting wedding weekend. Great to catch up, too.
