Easter weekend…the last one in the rental. Drea, Jockel, Noah, painted Easter rocks! What a great idea. Over the years there will be a vast collection, somewhere, of beautifully painted rocks. They won’t break, they don’t need careful storage. Lovely to enjoy the last blast at this place that has been good to us, good for us, so near to the new home, so accommodating for guests, such a great view, lovely furnishings.

And so it begins. We get the first POD delivery tomorrow, but we have things to move out of the rental. I began the packing. First things first…these faithful cheery friends were the first to leave.

They are now in a temporary huddle, in the studio, by the baseboards for downstairs. The south sun stunned them for awhile. Moving is difficult for all living things.

The stairway to the studio is almost complete. The original stairs, all 16 inches of them, started the entire reno project. Next weekend we move in…5 months renting, began here.

The fireplace now functions…the lights work, the painting is complete, the floors will be done soon, and the plumbing.

The kitchen is in! the counters installed..just awaiting plumbing for the dishwasher and fridge..the propane is installed for the stove.

The other side of the kitchen, where the stove goes, and the fan will go above, is getting tiled. It’s all coming together very quickly near this end time. Now to relax for the weekend.

Noah is telling me to be quiet, as his “boy” is sleeping on the upper bunk in the doll house. …His sweet pudgy finger isn’t in quite the right place for “shushing”, but it’s all that much cuter !

Then Noah needed a “nap” too. Being a child is tiring work. Having Noah and mum visit was not work at all. Now that they’ve left, it seems such an “adult” household. We’ll adjust back, but not tonight.

I finished the matches my shoes!

..not that that was my objective.

Noah is visiting us over March Break. On our walk today, he needed to stop at each storm drain, from all of which he could hear water flowing, and inquire each time about whether there was a boat down there or not.

Noah also displayed “cat whisperer” tendencies.

..and listened to the sounds of pheasants, which couldn’t be spotted.  A lovely walking companion!

..and then this happened. We had a “snow day”. Winter came to say a formal “goodbye”.  “Bye”.

Lots happening at the house…the floors were all pieced and patched together, and now getting oiled rather than varnished.

Doors and baseboards went in..

..and Frank installed the (always challenging Ikea) wardrobe in our bedroom, after painting it grey.

Now he’s installing the (yes, more challenging) Ikea kitchen food pantry, which Frank painted this great green. Exciting week. Getting so much closer….

Somedays, it’s the smallest thing that can bring me joy.

The weather was so confused this morning…stay warm and sunny? rain? get cold? snow? I’m enjoying the view from the rental for what is finally!! our last month here before the move to our new house…and really, what’s not to enjoy with this view? See Blomindon in the distance? The shape of it is so like the view from Lawrencetown Beach…makes me feel “at home”.
