I am still adjusting to this complete change of water view. The Minas Basin, where Wolfville is located, is an offshoot of the Bay of Fundy, and the Bay of Fundy  has the world’s highest tides!  These tides create enormous mud flats when out, and blue smooth water when in.  Another type of beauty altogether, so not a painful adjustment.

After the least amount of resting up, I got serious about cutting back, pruning, or taking out shrubs on the property. As the wheelbarrow is still hiding in the unpacked yet world of the basement, this snow shovel helped me drag away trimmings to the driveway, where they are still awaiting some gnome to whisk the huge heap away.

Frank meanwhile moved the deck steps, on his own! from where the lattice looks new, to the back…so we don’t face the street. The bamboo will get applied this week. I created and put in the garden..

IMG_2179 we look out our kitchen and into the back… more garden..all hydrangeas that bloom from spring to autumn and are perennials. The plan is for not too much future gardening work .

..then on the weekend, helpers arrived, and of all the shrubs we’d cut down, this is the one where we want to plant a new tree. An ancient quince resisted from phase one…

phase 2,

phase 3, and finally,

couldn’t resist phase 4.

meanwhile, Noah worked hard moving some of the earth. So glad that he and his dad love gardening, and Drea loves cooking.  We can use this help often over the next few months as we tame our property.

Home again, and someone was VERY happy to see us!

We left fall in New Zealand and landed in spring in Canada..first in Vancouver, now in Ontario. Both are beautiful seasons. Winter not so much, Summer a yes.

A chance to have a quick visit to St. Catharines to see Julie and John. Always quick visits, but we had a mission work on a kitchen design for them. I think Frank and I should start a business together…Seniors Acting as Designers…SAD!

Last snuggle till next year.

And Opa to get this great love-in…

Goodbye to New Zealand..will miss everyone,  already do.

Same day, but a different country, and it’s a day later in N.Z. now. Here, on Canada’s Wednesday, we are waiting for a shuttle to a motel just to sleep! I’m pulling down on my heels to stretch out my calves after that brutal flight to Vancouver. Mind you, other passengers sleep. We are just too cramped, too restless. I watched four movies, read a book and did Sudokos. An afternoon to rest before a flight onwards tomorrow. So happy we were able to have had that time in N.Z..

Driving to Masterton today, about an hour away..

In typical N.Z. fashion, there were sheep everywhere..low, and..

..and high.

..then back to the “homestead” for our last night here. The kids and piggies are checking out the mulch to place over all those weeded gardens.

“Goodbye” said Mr. Rooster.

For the Mother’s Day which happened today in Canada, I received this photo from Tori, who officially became our daughter-in-law in January…so this Mother’s Day I had one more adult child…and I’m thrilled about it. My wonderful sisters-in-law always call me a sister, and that’s how I feel about our “in-laws”… The word should be changed to “in-loves”.

Speaking of love!

…and the two new Alpacas who arrived today, are inseparable and were free on this condition. More love. And they were getting to know the other animals..soon more love will spread.

The old kitchen look..

..beginning the Reno..the cupboard behind Will is removed, later the light fixtures changed, the old wallpaper removed, the walls cleaned and repaired, painted, trim applied, the cupboards painted, and..

..All put together for Mother’s Day. Now we all feel calmer.

…and can concentrate on the weeds. Love the new look.

It doesn’t stop being so sweet to see Jen with her children and her animals.

Meanwhile, the men were forced to work all day, to get this big job done..

..indoors and out.

..out, where fall has been happening before our eyes. The kitchen Reno and the weeding need to get finished ASAP as this is our last weekend here…then we will get onto tasks in our own house..finishing the basement, creating gardens, landscaping…so our ” working” holiday gave us a reprieve . Smile here.
